FILLINGS

White fillings are an excellent cosmetic option for restorations, as they are colour matched to your teeth. The filling material is a composite-resin plastic, which is moldable to the prepared shape of your tooth after decay has been removed, or if a chip or fracture has occurred. The material is cured with light to ensure it is strong and can be used for normal chewing function. This type of restoration is also used when repairing teeth that have been affected by erosion, wear over time or by breakage.

  • When should I get a filling?

At Unique Dental Care, we recommend x-rays of between your teeth every two years. This allows us to see what the naked eye cannot, and is essential in early prevention. Decay may be identified by your x-rays, in which case your dentist may recommend a filling. A filling may also be needed if you have chipped off a part of your tooth, or if you are unhappy with the shape or aesthetic of your current teeth. These scenarios are all best discussed with your dentist to make sure you are receiving the correct treatment.

  • What is the process?

A filling often requires aenesthetic to make sure the process is comfortable for you. This is the first step at the start of your appointment. From here, the dentist will clean out the decay from your tooth, to prepare the surface for the filling material. We will then place the filling material and cure it with light. The filling is then polished and made sure to suit your bite.
