CEREC CROWNS

CEREC’s are a fantastic options to repair broken teeth. A CEREC crown is a tooth coloured restoration that is created for you in one procedure, onsite at our practice. As this process is digital, it takes out the uncomfortable step of having impression material in your mouth, and having to wait 2-3 weeks for your crown to return from the lab.

  • What is the process?

CEREC appointments are scheduled for an hour and a half (90 mins). The first 30 minutes are spent preparing your tooth for its crown. We then take digital impressions of your mouth using a specialised camera to design your crown. The crown is then milled on site for approximately 30 minutes, during which time you have a break. Once milled and quality checked by your dentist, we fit your crown using a special dental glue and you can leave the practice with a fully functional tooth.

  • What is the recovery?

Once glued, it takes approximately 3 hours for the glue to completely cement your crown. During this time, you will still be numb from the anesthetic. We recommend sticking to soft and lukewarm temperature foods during this time so you do not injure your mouth while numb, and also to give the crown time to adhere to its full potential. Aside from this, there is no recovery period and your crown is fully functional at the end of your appointment.
